Research Security & Export Control

Advances in cutting-edge research are critical to the Nation’s position as a thought and innovation leader in the 21st century. Upholding the security and integrity of the national research enterprise relies on the awareness and cooperation of researchers and partners equally committed to upholding core research principles and values such as openness, transparency, integrity, reciprocity and collaboration. To strengthen research security in the U.S., the recently released National Security Presidential Memorandum – 33 (NSPM-33) directs federal funding agencies to strengthen protections of federally-funded research against foreign government interference and exploitation.

Informed by NSPM-33 and subsequent federal government guidance, UT has developed a Research Security Program. The university’s Research Security Program is supported by the Research Security Campus Advisory Committee
